ARTIST STATEMENT
Applying paint on canvas enables me to express the beauty of color relationships within a pictorial space. The colors are luminous and often appear to be backlit, conjuring up the frescoes of the Quattrocento.
BIO
Jon Rowe enrolled in drawing and painting classes at the Corcoran School of Art and the Washington Studio School before moving to New York in 1989. He studied life drawing at the National Academy of Design and the Art Students League. At Brooklyn College, Rowe studied figure painting.
Rowe is currently an active member of The Crit Lab, founded by artist, curator, and educator Patricia Miranda; Art Lives Here, founded by curator Connie Lee; The Artist’s Club at the Hudson Valley Museum of Contemporary Art; the Peekskill Arts Alliance; and the Katonah Museum Artists’ Association.
He lives and paints in Port Chester, Westchester County, New York.
